Title: "Creating an atlas of B cell clones in health and disease"
Abstract: Clones are cells that derive from the same precursor cell. Clones represent a fundamental unit of immune selection-- they undergo activation, increase in cell number and differentiate in response to antigens. B cell clones are characterized by sharing very similar antibody sequences that can be used to link different members of the same clone across different tissues, immune cell subsets and points in time. I will describe our ongoing efforts using immune repertoire profiling (next-generation sequencing of antibody gene rearrangements) to create a map of clones in the human body and some of our more recent work on clones in specific B cell subsets and in individuals with autoimmunity.
