Warmest congratulations to Gabor for receiving the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities!

Gabor is currently one of the pillars of the Laufer Center. His central area of research is synthetic biology, with applications to cancer therapy and drug resistance.

This award was developed by faculty for faculty, and only those who have demonstrated a record of sustained scholarship or consistent creative productivity in the fine and performing arts receive this distinction.

Gabor’s contribution to advancement of cell biology is transformative. He is an innovative leader in an area, fine-tuning protein levels by synthetic gene circuits, whose importance is just being recognized. Gabor is a great mentor, he works closely with his lab members, he is ‘hands-on’ in the lab, and he is an excellent role model for young researchers in our Center.
