Eugene Serebryany Honored with 2025 Cataract Award
The National Foundation for Eye Research has presented the 2025 Early Career Cataract Research Award to Eugene Serebryany (Stony Brook University) in recognition of his innovative work on lens protein biophysics and cataract development.
Serebryany’s research focuses on understanding how long-lived lens proteins maintain their stability and how subtle molecular changes, such as γ-crystallin misfolding and disulfide-bond-mediated aggregation, contribute to cataract formation. His work bridges protein engineering and human lens biology, offering new insights toward preventing age-related cataracts.
Congratulations to Dr. Serebryany on this outstanding recognition.
