Stony Brook’s undergraduate iGEM team earned a Gold Medal at the 2025 international competition in Paris. The students were co-advised by Laufer Center faculty member Prof. Gábor Balázsi, along with Professors Peter Gergen and Kathryn Gunn.

Adding to this milestone, Professor Gábor Balázsi, PHD as the Henry Laufer Endowed Chair in Physical and Quantitative Biology, was invested in October 24, 2025.
Congratulations to Xiaowei Bogetti (Bahar Lab) for receiving the Best Poster Award at the 19th Annual ICB&DD Symposium.
Kenneth Breslauer selected among Biophysical Society 2026 Society Fellows.
The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Ken A. Dill, of Stony Brook University will receive the Society’s 2026 Founders Award. Dill will be honored at the Society’s 70th Annual Meeting, being held in San Francisco, California from February 21-25, 2026.
Alexandria Lewkoski, a double major in biochemistry and applied math and statistics with a minor in bioengineering, has been working under the mentorship of Dr. Lina Carlini in the Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology/Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology since October 2024.
